Welcome to my website about travel, motorcycle riding and photography.
Travel has been my passion for over 40 years - backpacking, hiking and, now, motorcycle travel and enduro riding. For years, I considered motorcycles extremely dangerous and never wanted even to sit on one. But then, while backpacking through Africa on overcrowded mini-vans, one late afternoon I saw a group of motorcycle travelers roll into a hotel where I was staying. I thought it was a much better way to travel, at least through rough places like Africa.
It would be another decade before I quit my work and became a full-time motorcycle bum. Now, more than half a million kilometers in the saddle later, I cannot imagine traveling by any other means.
Random Ride is about living on the road, visiting far-away places as a backpacker, or on a motorcycle and snapping photos along the way. Travel, for me, is about experiencing different cultures and ways of life, trying new foods, meeting other travelers or locals and sharing experiences. Hopefully, you find some useful info here for your next motorcycle adventure or get inspired to travel to a far-away place.
